Send a test referral to the lab

Summary steps to send a test referral to the lab after administering the test:

  1. Search for and open the patient's record
  2. Find the Referrals panel and select the entry for today's test
    • If you don't see the Referrals panel, switch to the HOME panel view by selecting My Patient View or Supporting Documents in the top right corner of the Dashboard.
    • If a test referral doesn't exist, select the Referrals panel menu to create a new one.
  3. Outside the system: Perform the test
  4. Confirm the referral includes all required forms and a photo of the test
    • Patient Insurance form linked and locked.
    • Test Form linked and locked.
    • Test ID from the test form written on the test kit and in the referral description.
    • Lab Result form linked and draft.
    • Test Photo image attached.
  5. Set the Receiving Clinic to your designated lab
  6. Select Send Referral

Now the lab can process the test referral you sent and confirm the test results.

After the lab is done, billing submits insurance claims for your reimbursement.
